As I get closer to the big Four O, I've realized just how out of shape I am. Twenty years ago I could do the splits both ways, loved backpacking and high adventure, and (though always on the heavy side) was fairly fit. In the last 7 years I've faced various minor to major health problems that have given me a serious wake up call to the need to take better care of this body that God gave me. I did lose nearly 100 pounds about 10 years ago, but gained about half of it back. I need to seriously lose and keep off at least 50 pounds this year, and I need to also take care of some other health related issues as well.
How? Well, actually I've already started. Between the fitness center I recently joined and the karate that I'm studying, I hope that January 2011 will see a new me.
